In which Flint is annoyed AND annoying

So, we set off early this morning after saying goodbye to my family.  We were up at 6:30 and on the road before 8, which those of you who know both of us will recognize as exactly the right time for Darcy and way too early for Daniel

After a quick stop at Timmys we were off towards Vegreville where we are staying with Daniel's Great Aunt Nora and Great Uncle Bruce.

We thought we would let Flint (who is our cat) wander around the car while we are driving so that we didn't have him cooped up all day in his carrier, so long as he didn't want go underneath the driver (Daniel's) feet.  But that is EXACTLY where he wanted to be.  So eventually we had to put him in his carrier, where he stayed mostly quiet.  Eventually we opened the door for him, and he remained in there.  It turns out that's where he wanted to be at, if he couldn't be under Daniel's feet.

We made a stop at Jasper for lunch, and thought we would let Flint out for a walk at a rest stop, thinking he would like to get out of the car.  It turns out he didn't like it at all at the side of the highway dispite the majestic moutains. Flint has no taste for majesty it seems.

So, we put him back in the car, had lunch and took off for Vegreville (which is just East of Edmonton). Incidently we wanted to stop off in Jasper to pick up some coffee and pastries but it seems for some unknown reason Jasper is very busy on a long weekend so there was no parking. So we got more Timmies in Hinton.

We hit rain just past Edson and it was quite heavy, but it let up by the time we got to Edmonton, which is nice because the rain on the praries is SUPER INTENSE.  Once the rain quit, we saw some nice views of prarie stuff:

Those are Bison down there, in case you were wondering.

Eventually we made it to Vegreville, where we are staying the night.  We only got a little lost, shortly after commenting how hard it to is to get lost in a prarie town.

We are reading the Outsiders on our trip (or more specifically, Darcy is reading it aloud)  We are halfway through, and we started today.  We're going to need another book to read soon, but all we found at the Grocery store was standard grocery store books, which weren't particularly compelling.  So, after visiting Vegreville's famous Easter Egg, we headed back to Bruce and Nora's and are now going to sleep.

Tomorrow we are driving through Saskachewan and into North Dakoda, so we've got a heck of a drive.  Until then, tonight's joke: Why is it so hard to get a giraffe to say sorry? It takes them a long time to swallow their pride.
